Moyu MY82002 is a brick-built Sushi Bar modular building made from 2684 GoBricks pieces; here is my full review.
I built a modular building last year but haven’t reported it to you yet. Now it’s time. It is a modular Sushi Bar building from the Chinese brand Moyu Blocks.
Important note: The set is also available from JieStar under “The Sushi Corner.” Both have one thing in common: they’re not original designs but stolen MOCs from a LEGO Ideas submission (2018) by designer Bricky_Brick. Since there were no official instructions, Moyu and JieStar recreated it.
Moyu MY82002 Review
I bought the set from a European dealer in a beautiful, illustrated box. In this box, you can find the bricks in numbered plastic bags, building instructions, and matching stickers. Yes, unfortunately, it’s pretty extensive, with 30 stickers.
Take a look at the instructions. They were perfect and ensured that the construction went smoothly. Moyu created extensive assembly instructions with 170 full-color pages on high-quality paper.
The built elements are grayed out, and the area to be built is in color.
Key Features
The set has 2684 pieces and is packaged into numbered plastic bags. Moyu uses GoBricks bricks and parts here. They are of excellent quality and are on the LEGO level.
The only disadvantage: GoBricks initially made a few prints, which you can see in this set.

From the side, the set looks a bit boring, but who sets up their set sideways?
The view from behind is much more interesting. Unlike many modular buildings, where you often only see walls, the design allows you to see details from behind.
Here, you can see, among other things, a beautifully built bridge that connects the two modular building elements.
Even though there are more windows and colored elements, the set isn’t much more exciting from the left side, either. But I like the color selection better than just gray on gray.
Now, let’s take a closer look at the details.
Ground Floor
Let’s start on the right side, where we have the sushi bar, the element that gives the set its name. It’s beautifully executed and reminiscent of food stalls in Asia.
The red lamps/lanterns add a lot of atmosphere to the modular building. Simple black seats are also placed right next to the opening windows.
The floor is completely tiled in dark and light bluish gray. A white lantern on the street adds a touch of life.
The interior design is a highlight. In the lobby, there is a counter area where you can order and pick up your sushi. Golden rods decorate the interior, giving it an Asian vibe. It’s beautifully executed.
The back area has a fully equipped kitchen where hot meals are prepared. Again, it is favorable to note that everything in the interior is tiled.
On the left side of the Moyu MY82002 set is a bookstore. Something new for a modular building, hehe.
There are a few book displays in the front area. There should be a sticker here, but I didn’t put it on.
Moreover, the side wall of the bookstore can be lifted out, allowing a glimpse inside. You can see how the bookshelves are integrated into the wall. I like that.
Here, they opted for a darker shade for the tiles, including various tones of brown. It gives the whole thing a very pleasing rustic look.
Second Floor Inside
Then we go to the second floor. From the outside, the second floor is very colorful and decorated with flowers, etc. The choice of bricks is also a colorful mix of yellow, red, and white, which gives the set a unique look.
The interior is primitively furnished with some minor details. It is very, very classic, and nothing is tiled.
As much effort as Bricky Brick put into the ground floor, details were spared here. A white staircase leads to the next floor.
The house’s design changes entirely again on the left side. From super colorful, we now switch to a classic look with red masonry bricks, black elements, and white windows. As a fan of classic modular buildings, I dig this look.
Inside, there’s a cute little living room with a yellow armchair. This also includes a spiral staircase, which was tricky to build.
There are a few more details here, but nothing that particularly catches the eye.
Third Floor Inside
We’re already on the third floor. The right block has only two floors, so the view immediately goes to the left side of the Moyu MY82002 modular building.
Here, the designer continues the classic design. The ring elements on the facade remind me a bit of the sea. I don’t know if that’s supposed to be an association. The look with tan masonry bricks and white windows is classic, and I like it.
The roof is also classically designed and has a slight curve. Athens is on the roof, so our non-included minifigs can also watch TV there.
Also, a look inside. Here, you will find a tiny sleeping area. Here, too, the details are kept to a minimum: a colorful bed, a nightstand, and a table. Unfortunately, the floor is also not tiled.
Further, there’s also a mini bathroom with a toilet. This room will make even the minifigures claustrophobic.
Moyu MY82002 Review Conclusion
All in all, it was an excellent, fun build. The different parts were very varied. I dig the Sushi Bar Modular Building because it isn’t as big as the usual MB from China. It is an ideal size, not too big and not too small.
The set is a stolen LEGO Ideas MOC from Bricky Brick from 2018. Yes, it’s a shame. Nevertheless, it’s an adorable set. I particularly enjoy its depth, as you can see between the buildings. Also great is the backside with the little bridge.
In contrast, the furnishings in the individual rooms were a little carelessly designed. I would have liked a bit more detail here. The sushi restaurant has the most detail.
The quality of the parts (Gobricks) was perfect, and everything fit. The same applies to the instructions: large, beautifully illustrated on high-quality paper, and everything was easy to see
Last but not least, there is one criticism. The Moyu MY82002 didn’t use prints at all but ships with stickers. With prints, the set would have been almost perfect.
Pro
- excellent brick quality (GoBricks)
- fun built
- high-quality instructions
- outside design
Neutral
- stolen LEGO Ideas design from Bricky_Brick but re-modeled without instruction
Contra
- only stickers and no prints
- furnishings in the individual rooms
